India Nature Watch, usually referred to as INW is a non-commercial community website that focuses on sharing photographs of Indian wildlife. The site was started in 2005 and currently hosts more than 4 members. The site was started by Sudhir Shivaram, Kalyan Varma, Yathin S K and Vijay Cavale.
The Site hosts images in 8 categories - Birds, Mammals, Reptiles & Amphibians, Butterflies & Moths, Landscape, Insects & Other Invertebrate, Flora and Others.
Almost 200,000 images of India's Natural Habitat are found on this website, and the number is growing rapidly on a daily basis.
The INW website is intended to serve as an online resource for nature lovers of all skill levels from beginners to professionals. The focus area is India. The intent is that the content generated on the website will help showcase the work of nature photographers in India to the world, as well as help initiate the uninitiated to the wonders of nature.
There is also a "Discussion Forum" where various topics such as Nature Places, Pointers, Equipment Related queries etc are discussed.
INW is meant strictly for enjoying nature and discourages activism or any commercial activity within the website.
Though not cited publicly so, INW is probably the biggest database of Indian Nature Images that is available anywhere in the world with a plethora of images of varied species and various national parks of the country.
